A B3Living customer was “overwhelmed” when donated a brand new laptop by Wormley and Turnford Big Local, to help him turn his life around.
Mark was the victim of a drug gang in his previous home but found his confidence again through a network of support services helping him with his finances, due to being unable to work.
Helen (B3Living’s Community Development Manager) has been supporting Mark over the past year to kit out his new house with furniture and white goods from donations from B3Living staff and various partners, such as Emmaus. When Mark asked about a laptop, Helen immediately got in touch with WTBL to see if they could help.
Mark said, “I have been blessed to be given this, I didn’t expect this at all. When I asked Helen if she knew anyone who might be able to donate a laptop, this is where it started. It’s beyond the job they are paid to do. Helen, B3Living, Citizens Advice, Wormley Community Centre and various organisations have now given me an opportunity to have a social life – a couple of years back, that would have sounded insane!”
Michal Siewniak, Community Development Manager for Wormley and Turnford Big Local, said, “The Wormley and Turnford Big Local ran a number of projects during the health pandemic. We are really pleased that our laptop appeal resonated so well with many of our residents. This project also included a generous donation of £500, which enables us to buy two brand new laptops. This initiative enabled us to directly support a number of residents, local schools and make a tangible difference to people’s lives.”
B3Living customers who are experiencing difficulties or need support are encouraged to get in touch to discuss ways in which we, and local partners, can support.
