Big Energy Saving Week
This week (20-26 January), is Big Energy Saving Week, a national campaign to help people cut their utility bills and save energy.
“Big Energy Saving Week is a great reminder to check you are not paying too much for your gas and electricity and to make sure you are not missing out on any financial benefits and support,” explained B3Living Community Development Manager, Helen Wright.
“Switching energy tariff or supplier can save hundreds of pounds a year and the Citizens Advice online price comparison tool is a great place to start. The page also has lots of information on financial support available for low-income households, including the Warm Home Discount.”
Citizens Advice and the Energy Saving Trust have published a handy ’20 ways to save’ guide, which has some easy ways to save energy, water and money.
“For example, if a family of four each spend one minute less in the shower, they could save up to £75 a year and turning appliances off standby could save another £30,” Helen said.
“You can also visit your local library or Citizens Advice to get energy-saving tips, advice on switching supplier and to find out how to ask for help to pay for home insulation”.
