Our old garages at Barrow Lane are being transformed into six new affordable homes.
Having suffered from significant anti-social behaviour, fly-tipping and crime over the years, the area will be transformed into safe, high-quality homes for local residents.
The new development will welcome up to 14 new residents in one two-bedroom and five one-bedroom homes. Offered at an affordable rent to people on the housing waiting list, the scheme will convert a vacant space into somewhere local people can afford to live in.
Local neighbours contributed to improving the design of the site through a consultation by highlighting priorities such as privacy, security and maintaining a frequently used access route.
With a £180,000 grant from the Borough of Broxbourne Council , the development marks the joint efforts of B3Living and the local authority to address the increasing demand for affordable homes in the area while meeting local needs.
We marked the start on site with our Broxbourne Council partners.
Cabinet Member for Community and Housing, Cllr Corina Gander commented:
“B3Living is the largest registered provider of affordable housing in the Borough of Broxbourne and has been an important partner to the council for nearly 20 years.
I am delighted that the Barrow Lane development has started on site and is just one of a number of significant developments in progress in the borough which will provide much needed affordable housing for our residents.
B3Living’s Executive Director (Development), Jon Hayden said:
“Working in partnership with the Broxbourne Council has allowed us to invest into our community with these six new homes.
“It is excellent to be transforming the local area by creating a more secure and attractive environment for our neighbours.
“Over the next two years, our aim is to start building 400 new homes to ensure that we continue to deliver the best possible homes for our customers and communities.”
