We've been listed among the fastest growing housing associations following an industry survey into housebuilding across the UK.
The ‘Biggest Builders 2023’ list compiled by trade publication, Inside Housing, placed us third among the top 10 social landlords delivering the highest the number of new homes in relation to their existing size.
We are a community-based housing provider based in and around the Borough of Broxbourne in Hertfordshire. We were established in 2006 following a large-scale voluntary transfer from the local council and today we own and manage more than 5,300 homes.
We delivered 258 new homes in the 2022-23 financial year which represented a 4.8% overall increase in our housing stock and the largest year-on-year growth in our history. A significant proportion of this growth came with the completion of our flagship development, Cheshunt Lakeside, which brought 195 new affordable homes to Cheshunt in Hertfordshire and was the largest regeneration project we have delivered to date.
New affordable homes were also completed at schemes in Hertford, Hoddesdon, Goffs Oak near Cheshunt and at a rural housing scheme in Braughing, a village near Ware.
In reaction to the news Jon Hayden, B3Living’s Executive Director (Development), commented: “I am incredibly proud of what the organisation has been able to deliver this year, not least because it is the culmination of hard work across some of the most challenging years the construction industry has ever experienced.
“It is always in the forefront of my mind that 258 properties built means 258 families who are no longer waiting on the housing register for a place they can call home and start building a better future for themselves. That’s what our Better Futures strategy is here to achieve.”
In our 2021-24 Better Futures strategy we committed to deliver 500 new homes across the three-year period, of which 75% has been delivered between 2021-23. Our Development team has been shortlisted for industry awards for two consecutive years in recognition of this achievement, in addition to their approach to sustainability in the scheme design process, going over and above regulatory requirements for building safety, and engagement work with customers.
