B3Living employee Helen Wright, was awarded Inspirational Colleague of the Year at the 2016 Housing Heroes awards in Manchester.
The awards, which are part of the Chartered Institute of Housing’s annual conference and took place at Manchester Central on Monday 27 June and celebrated the ‘unsung everyday heroes’ of housing.
Helen, who is a Hub Facilitator at the Holdbrook Hub in Waltham Cross, was nominated for the award because of her extensive charity work and support to the Broxbourne Foodbank.
Her most significant achievements were increasing donations of food and helping to secure an electric van for the food bank, so they can deliver to the wider community.
Helen said: “I was so proud to have been nominated by B3Living for the Housing Heroes award, but to have actually won is amazing. I’m very grateful to B3Living for giving me the opportunity to be able to help the Foodbank and for the support from all my lovely colleagues.”
The awards ceremony was also attended by B3Living, Chief Executive Joe Chambers and Director of Housing, Simon Walton.
Simon Walton said: “Helen has a passion for helping the Foodbank. She is a real advocate of helping people to help themselves, which is one of the core aims of the Foodbank. She empathises with the people who find themselves in challenging situations where putting food on the table cannot always be taken for granted. She does this with human decency, a caring nature and good old fashioned practical advice. Rarely flustered and willing to give up her own time to help other, Helen is a great example to us all”.
