National Inclusion Week at B3Living

National Inclusion Week at B3Living

Monday, 30 September 2024

In our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) work, we want to look at actions that…

  • Ensure that everyone has the same opportunities to succeed, regardless of background or identity.
  • Eliminate less favourable treatment towards certain people/groups
  • Recognise, celebrate and respect differences, and the value that they bring to our organisation

… to create a space where everyone feels safe and valued.

To celebrate National Inclusion Week, our EDI manager, Adam Perry, organised a series of activities to get our colleagues talking about #ImpactMatters.

Some highlights included:

  • A bake off designed to bring everyone together and make a positive impact to the local foodbank through donations. Our Monday morning was marked by a series of inclusion themed cakes from rainbow colours to allergen free cakes.
  • An Imposter Syndrome webinar to raise awareness of how the syndrome negatively impacts people’s working lives and disproportionally affects people from diverse backgrounds – particularly women and LGBTQ+.
  • An #ImpactMatters themed munch and learn to give our colleagues the tools and knowledge they may need to make and measure the impact they make.
  • Distributing rainbow lanyards to demonstrate to LGBTQ+ customers and colleagues that they are safe to be themselves in our presence.

At B3Living, we are working towards embedding EDI into every aspect of our work to ensure that we can deliver Better Futures for our customers and communities.

Now that Inclusion Week has come to an end, it’s a great time for each of us to reflect on how we can be more inclusive in our day-to-day work. Our EDI Manager shared some advice on how to do so:

Don’t underestimate ‘small’ gestures that make people feel seen, understood or included.

Look at where you have influence, and what is appropriate for your role and start there. Lots of small changes can make a big impact.
