We’re sorry that things didn’t go well this summer. We’re looking ahead to how we can fix this for good.
Here’s our latest update and answers to some recent questions:
We have different teams for different tasks. Grass cutting is handled by contractors, while our Grounds Maintenance team takes care of shrubs, hedges, and planting. It might seem unusual, but we find this approach more efficient because different tasks require different equipment and skills.
We aim to have one grass cutting contractor per estate, but sometimes different teams handle the front and back due to equipment limitations. For example, larger machines used for the front may not fit through gates to the back.
Finding contractors with the capacity to collect clippings has been challenging. It takes longer and increases costs. Our priority was to ensure the grass was cut and kept on top of regularly. Hopefully, the clippings won't be as much of a nuisance now the grass is being trimmed more often.
What happens now:
- Lawn Enforcement will continue cutting the lawns, and Broxbourne Council will handle the verges. Nurture will not be doing any more cuts for us this year.
- The grass cutting season will end in October, so you can expect your last 1-2 cuts in the next month. This is standard practice as winter approaches.
- We’re planning for next year and would love your input. We’re running a grass cutting consultation from Monday, 21 October. More details will follow in the coming weeks.
