Stuart’s story: Bringing the community together to give back

My name is Stuart and I’m running the London Marathon to fundraise for Barnardo’s Children’s Charity.

I have been running for just under a year and this will be my first ever marathon. Training has been challenging but great for my mental health, so I’m determined to see it through.

I lived in temporary accommodation with my children for almost a year and I didn’t realise how difficult things would be.

We now live in a B3Living, and we are all a lot happier. I’m thankful for the help I’ve received to improve our lives and open my own plumbing company.

Things have changed for the better for me, but I can’t help but want to give back in any way I can. I had a stable upbringing, and seeing kids struggling made me want to help. That’s why I chose to run for Barnardo’s. Their work supporting vulnerable children is very important to me, so I’ve reached out to local businesses in Broxbourne to help me meet my fundraising target of £2,300.

I’ve received much more support than I could’ve imagined, and it’s been inspiring to see my community come together to help children in need.
